A few years following the end of the Civil War, a group of 38 Jefferson County farmers, orchardists, and business leaders determined the need for a bank to serve as a stabilizing influence in Jefferson County, West Virginia.
After developing financial resources, the Bank of Charles Town was established. A charter was issued on February 20, 1871 and the bank opened for business on April 4, 1871. BCT has been in operation for more than 135 years.
